As the current trends in supply of nurses and their anticipated demand by an aging population continue, the US Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Health Professions, predicts significant vacancy rates of 12% or 275,000 nurses in 2010 increasing to 29% or 800,000 nurses in 2020.
